OUTSIDE OF LINCOLN, NE – Nebraska Meadowlark has raised concerns over a year of messaging from Linda Vermooten, candidate for the Nebraska State Board of Education, that promotes book banning, discrimination, and criminalizing teachers and librarians. Linda Vermooten’s agenda signals a shift away from providing equitable opportunities and she intends to implement divisive and politically charged policies into Nebraska’s education system.
In the past year, Linda Vermooten has not only ignored the facts that marginalized individuals are oppressed and disadvantaged, and that she is one of the oppressors and advantaged, but also has gone on to attack teachers and public schools. Linda Vermooten has sent a message to voters through her words and actions, highlighting her commitment to policies that prioritize preferential treatment for certain groups over others, rather than ensuring that all students have an equitable education.
Linda Vermooten stated, “Everyday, your child is raped. Yes, they are raped. How? Emotionally and psychologically.”
Linda Vermooten has a strong commitment to undermining public schools, jailing public school teachers, and preventing students from being treated with respect and dignity. She stands firmly against the introduction of real world learning, empathy and a respect for the freedoms guaranteed by the United States Constitution into the education system. Linda Vermooten believes that the focus should be on improving Christian literacy, supporting Biblical-based education, and ensuring that every female-born student fulfills their duty to give birth.
Voters in District 2 are encouraged to consider the implications of the policies being proposed by Linda Vermooten’s vision for an education system that prioritizes Christian nationalism, book banning, and discrimination against teachers and marginalized students.
